About Katherine

Katherine (often called Winky by family and friends) is a farmer, teacher, wife, mother, and college professor.  She currently works as a professor and administrator at Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina.
After a long career of teaching, Katherine’s philosophy of “we should all be life-long learners” was severely tested.  In 1998, Katherine made the selfish, sinful, and foolish decision to end her marriage.  Only by falling into the pit of despair and being rescued by the Grace of Jesus, the mentorship of a dear neighbor, and the support of a loving Bible study group, was Katherine able to see the error of her ways.  Tragedy was avoided as God blessed her through a period of reconciliation with her husband, Bob, and showed her that marriage was truly a partnership, not a battlefield.  This path to forgiveness and spiritual renewal led Katherine on a journey to a closer relationship with her Savior and a marriage blessed by divine intervention.  Katherine learned (the life-long learner lesson) that she must give up the need to be in control and submit fully to God.  Last year she and her husband celebrated 25 years of marriage!

Shortly after September 11, 2001, Katherine had a dream that seemed determined to stay in her mind, urging her to “write this story!”  That story formed the basis for Sheltered by an Angel’s Wings, allowing her to combine her love for writing into a book that is a witness for Jesus, yet set within a romantic, suspenseful plot.

Katherine is blessed with two children and a loving, faithful husband.  The family has a small farm near Greensboro, North Carolina, where they enjoy their church work, horses, and the many tasks associated with a working farm.  Writing has always been a joy and stress reliever for Katherine and she has written many shorts stories and plays— Sheltered by an Angel's Wings is her first novel.
